DETAIL DESCRIPTION

Werner, Thank you for the comments. Please refer to the manufactureres detail as per installation of the Centria product. I'm not opposed to adding sheathing around the exterior it just wasn't called for in thier details. I can remove the batt insulation and agree this is not needed. Please refer to the updated detail image for the sun shading device as how I resolved the insulation/structure.

Matt,
I realize the manufacturer does not call for back-up. We wished the shathing we called for on our hotel in Boston didn't fall victim to the VE. Both, acoustics (weight) and thermal performance (infiltration) could be better...
especially with a 3" panel.
If you have amoment (possibly after completion of the semester) try to figure out for yourself how your shading device would work three dimensionally, especially how to separate inside metals from outside metals. Currently your skin runs from outside to inside, the structural element including the mechanismn that turns the blades makes it almost impossible to introduce a reasonable thermal break.

Werner,

Thanks for the heads up. Please see me next post. The sheathing will help to create a more stable wall also. Does anyone spec this Centria panel without sheating to beging with like the manuf. suggests? Just wondering what the industry standard is?
