Here are a few entrance studies I've been working on this week and wouldn't mind some suggestions... The entrance will reside between the two overlapping planes facing the intersection of Boylston and Mass. Ave.
Holy Revit Batman! My favorite is four, I like the way the brise soleil pull back and forth to catch the side and so on. If I may be honest, I find the bedroom windows/bedrooms more interesting in the sketchup model, maybe because they read more like pods, I am bias....I wonder if instead of punched openings for windows there, it might be more dramatic to have floor to floor glazing on the south facing bedroom wall, this would justify the need for the brise soleil over them. I think Enrique Norten of Ten Arquitectos did this for a hotel in Mexico City (I mean the full height glass part). Looking good sir!
Matt, So my vote is for number 2 and number 4. The only reason I say 2 is because I like the way that it wraps the corner and expresses the entrance. I’m not sure of the curve though. I do like the move that you have made with the entrance though. I do also like number 5 though. So you are def. on the right track here. Something that I thought was interesting on the sketchup model that I don’t see on the revit model is the fin type shape at the top of the studio spaces on the south elevation. Is that something that you have dropped or do you intend on implementing this in the new model? Keep up the good work.
Great study models. Like all votes, you will get many, many opinions. 3 & 4 get my vote. They seem to flow better with your south elevation and also protect your large glass wall. 4 seems to work the best at creating a since of entrance. Go get’m.
David
P.S. Revit is good….. and frustrating…. and good….and….

Wonderful Matt! I like 4 and 5 more than the others.I think they match more the overall geometery and language in your building.
